Why we sell nucs and not packages
We don't sell package bees, and that's deliberate.
A nuc — a nucleus colony — arrives as a going concern: a laying queen already accepted by her bees, brood in every stage, drawn comb and stores. Set it down and it carries on doing what it was already doing.
A package is loose bees and a caged queen with no comb, no brood and no shared history. That colony has to be built from nothing, and a first-year beekeeper is the person least equipped to work out what went wrong in week three.
Our nucs go out on five deep frames, raised in Greenville from our own stock.
Nuc
Established colony · drawn comb · brood at every stage · builds immediately
Package
Loose bees · caged queen · starts from foundation · slower to establish
Pickup in Greenville, an hour from Sherman
2238 Co Rd 1081, Greenville, TX 75401.
Spring nuc pickup runs April through May. We contact you with your date as the season firms up — it moves with the weather and with how fast the colonies build, and we would rather hand you a strong nuc a week late than a weak one on time.
Bring a vehicle you can strap a hive body into, and something to cover it with. Early morning or evening is easiest on the bees.
Ask us about fall nucs — that is a separate window.
Queens, when we have them
Queen availability varies. We raise queens for our own operation first — 2,000+ hives take a lot of them — and sell the surplus when there is any.
Call 469-573-4232 or email info@timbercreekbees.com and we will tell you honestly what is on hand.
If you are buying a nuc, queen marking is a $25 add-on. A marked queen is far quicker to find in a full box, and the colour tells you the year she was raised.

Buying bees for an ag exemption?
That is a different service. If you own 5–20 acres and want the agricultural valuation, we place and manage the hives and keep the documentation your appraisal district asks for. You do not keep bees — we do.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy honey bees near Sherman or Denison?
Timber Creek Bees raises nucleus colonies in Greenville, Texas, about an hour southeast of Sherman, and sells them directly to beekeepers across Grayson and Fannin counties. We are a working commercial operation running 2,000+ hives, not a reseller — the bees you pick up were raised here.
Do you sell package bees?
No. We sell 5-frame nucleus colonies (nucs) and complete hives, not packages. A nuc comes to you as an established colony — laying queen, brood in every stage, drawn comb and stores — so it starts building the day you set it down instead of starting from bare foundation.
When can I pick up my nucs?
Spring nuc pickup runs April through May. We contact you with your specific date as the season firms up, because it moves with the weather and how fast the colonies build. Reserve early — spring nucs sell out.
How far is pickup from Sherman or Denison?
Pickup is at 2238 Co Rd 1081, Greenville, TX 75401 — roughly an hour southeast of Sherman, a little more from Denison. Bring a vehicle you can strap a hive body into and something to cover it with.
Do you sell queens?
Sometimes — it depends on availability. We raise queens for our own operation first, and sell the surplus when there is any. Call 469-573-4232 or email info@timbercreekbees.com and we will tell you honestly what we have.
Can I get my queen marked?
Yes. Queen Marking is a $25 add-on for nuc buyers. A marked queen is much faster to find in a full box, and the colour tells you what year she was raised — worth it for a first-year beekeeper.
What happens if my queen fails?
Every nuc carries a 30-day exchange. The full terms are on our bee warranty page, and a one-year extended warranty is available if you want longer cover.
I want bees for a Texas ag exemption — is this the right page?
This page is for buying bees. If you own 5–20 acres and want the agricultural valuation, we place and manage the hives for you and keep the county documentation — that is a different service, and your county sets the hive count. Start with your county's page.
